Downstate E.A.R.S. is used to communicate important information during any life-safety event or potential emergency, such as a snow delay or closing, Department of Homeland Security Advisory, weather warning, gas leak, fire, crime watch, power failure, boil-water advisory, or other event. In the future it may also be used to announce registration deadlines, and campus life activities.
