• October 2009 is Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
• Old cell phones will be collected during October for donation to women's shelters. Please contact Lorraine Brooks at extension 1489 if you have a usable cell phone that can be donated.

October 7 - Information tables will be set up outside the Cafeteria.

October 14 - TURN THE WORKFORCE PURPLE - All DMC employees and students are asked to wear something purple to show their support for the victims of Domestic Violence. Everyone who wears purple will be invited to have their photo taken with other staff members, in front of the Atrium. This is a great opportunity to show solidarity and help to raise awareness of this "silent epidemic".

October 14 - Information and resources will be available in Sodexho Court.

October 14 - Sodexho Court will show its support by offering purple foods in the cafeteria. Come and enjoy cupcakes with purple icing, grape jello, and other tasty treats! A portion of the price of the items will be donated to Safe Horizons, a community group which operates shelters for battered women and children, and offers safe housing for other victims.

October 20 - POETRY IN PURPLE - Join us for a rockin' evening of spoken word and music to combat domestic violence! The program will beheld in Alumni Auditorium, 6PM. Come - and bring friends to this powerful, spirit-raising event! Sponsored by the Employee Assistance Program.
