![]() Residency ProgramThe Department of Dermatology offers a three-year residency program fulfilling the training requirements of the American Board of Dermatology.Approximately 5 residents are trained per year. During the three years of training, residents are assigned to both in-patient and out-patient services at University Hospital, Kings County Hospital Center, the New York Harbor Health Care System (formerly known as the Brooklyn Veterans Administration Medical Center), Brookdale Hospital Medical Center, and Long Island College Hospital. The teaching program includes formal lectures in the basic sciences, medical and surgical dermatology, dermatopathology, journal clubs, and guest lectures. Training includes phototherapy, laser surgery cosmetic dermatology, pediatric dermatology, and participation in a busy consultation service. There are numerous opportunities for resident participation in basic and clinical research, and include the following ongoing basic-science research:
