Residency Program

The Department of Dermatology offers a three-year residency program fulfilling the training requirements of the American Board of Dermatology.

Approximately 7 residents are trained per year. During the three years of training, residents are assigned to both in-patient and out-patient services at University Hospital, Kings County Hospital Center, the New York Harbor Health Care System (formerly known as the Brooklyn Veteran's Administration Medical Center), Maimonides Medical Center, Brookdale Hospital Medical Center, Downstate at Long Island College Hospital, Woodhull Hospital, St. Alban's Medical Center and North Shore - Long Island Jewish Health System.

The teaching program includes formal lectures in the basic sciences, pediatric, medical and surgical dermatology, dermatopathology, journal clubs, and guest lectures. Training includes phototherapy, laser surgery, cosmetic dermatology, pediatric dermatology, and participation in a busy consultation service.

There are numerous opportunities for resident participation in basic and clinical research.
