Dr. Alan R. Shalita, named Distinguished Teaching Professor in 1996, founded the Department of Dermatology.

A pioneer in the treatment of acne, Dr. Shalita is recognized nationally and internationally for his skills as a clinician, researcher, and educator in the field of dermatology.
