How to Apply

The Residency Training Program at the Department of Dermatology at the State University of New York Downstate Medical Center is an ACGME-accredited 3-year program. We are currently accepting applications for the 2018 residency match. Our program participates in the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS®) and the National Residency Matching Program (NRMP). The application and supporting documents for the Residency Program must be received no later than November 15, 2017.

Criteria

Selection is determined by a number of factors, including academic achievement, USMLE Step 1 and 2 scores, clinical competence, research experience, and personal attributes. When your application is completed and all supporting documents are received, your file will be reviewed by our Residency Selection Committee.

Other Requirements

One year of post-graduate clinical training in the United States accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) must be completed prior to starting dermatology residency. Acceptable programs include: a transitional year or preliminary year in emergency medicine, family medicine, general surgery, internal medicine, obstetrics & gynecology, or pediatrics. SUNY Downstate does not sponsor J-1 or H-1B visa.
