Ombudsman Office and Role
Our Ombudsman is Dr. Michael Myers in the Department of Psychiatry. He is the ombudsman for all four class years. The ombudsman position was created by Dean Ian Taylor in 2009 to ensure that any medical student who believes that he or she is not being treated with dignity has a mechanism to report this. If you feel that you have been subjected to any form of abuse or harassment (verbal, emotional, behavioral, sexual) or unprofessional and inappropriate behavior by supervisors (professors, residents or attending physicians) please complete an Incident Form, which is easily accessed on PRIME. You will be contacted and then have an opportunity to discuss the situation in a confidential manner with an assurance that something will be done.
The Ombudsman Office provides an objective third party to report complaints about unprofessional behavior, abuse or harassment of a verbal, physical or sexual nature.
Reports may be filed confidentially in PRIME and will be reviewed by Dr. Michael Myers. The Ombudsman Incident Form can be found near the bottom of the Home Page that you see when you first log into Prime. It is in the Community Groups section, lower left.
