Event Chairman's Letter

Dear Friends and Colleagues

On May 2, 2009 SUNY Downstate Medical Center will be holding its second annual Celebrate Downstate gala, a fund-raising event that will bring together our clinicians, scientists, and campus leaders with the business, financial, and medical communities of greater New York and Brooklyn.

This event will be a unique opportunity to support Downstate, as all proceeds will go to Downstate’s Research Fund. This Fund supports our clinical and basic science researchers in their pursuit of the causes, treatments and, ultimately, cures for such diseases as epilepsy, diabetes, cancer, addiction, Alzheimer’s, and asthma.

Downstate’s annual research magazine, Profiles in Innovation, highlights the cutting-edge science being done at Downstate and our scientists’ accomplishments in the arenas of biomedical research and clinical innovation. The mission of the Downstate Research Fund is to ensure that this important work continues. Your support through participation in the Celebrate Downstate Journal will help make this research possible.
