SUNY Downstate — our faculty invented or introduced many of the surgical tools used in eye surgery.

Consultation, treatment, and surgery for vision problems are available.

We provide a full range of surgical options, including LASIK, that can reduce dependence on glasses or contact lenses by correcting for nearsightedness, farsightedness, and/or astigmatism.

In addition to LASIK surgery, subspecialty consultation, treatment, and surgery are available in Cornea, External Disease and Refractive Surgery. Surgical services performed in the Ambulatory Surgery Center include cataract surgery, corneal transplantation, glaucoma filtering and tube surgery, as well as advanced retinal procedures.

Consultations for patients wishing to learn if they are candidates for vision correction surgery are free.
