Campus Activity

The Faculty Student Association (FSA) is a not-for-profit corporation providing auxiliary services to the SUNY Downstate Medical Center community. FSA has a Board of Directors consisting of campus faculty, students and administrators.

The FSA services include the Bookstore, Courtyard Café and Ticket Service (for Broadway and Off Broadway shows). FSA has organized an "Off Campus Housing Office". It provides listings of apartments, rooms, shares and houses for rent. They also provide an Off Campus Housing Manual to assist you in your search for accommodations, comprehending leases, understanding newspaper advertisements and other helpful information. FSA offices are located on the deck level in the Student Center.

The Student Center is the hub of student and resident social activities. The Student Center sponsors most of the recreational activities offered at SUNY Downstate Medical Center. The Center's policies are established by the Student Center Governing Board, comprised of students from each college and school on campus. The Board offers a variety of year-round events and programs.

The athletic facilities consist of a gymnasium, swimming pool, sauna, Jacuzzi, universal gym, weight lifting equipment and other exercise machines, squash courts, tennis courts, billiards, table tennis and locker rooms.

The special events and programs include: movies, coffee house, happy hours, comic nights, "Spring Ring", mini courses such as swimming, photography and aerobics. Intramural sports include basketball, floor hockey, volleyball and soccer.
