FacultySUNY DownstateDr. Alexandru Apostol, Clinical Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology and Clinical Director of Anesthesiology at SUNY. He received his M.D. from the University of Medicine, Bucharest - Romania, 1981 and completed his residency training at SUNY, 2000. Dr. Apostol is board certified in Anesthesiology. Dr. Dennis Dimaculangan, Clinical Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology at SUNY. He received his M.D. degree from the University of Philippines, Manila, 1993. He completed his residency at SUNY, 2001 and a fellowship in Neuroanesthesiology. Dr. Dimaculangan is board certified in Anesthesiology. Dr. Alexander W. Gotta, Professor Emeritus of' Clinical Anesthesiology at SUNY. He received his M.D. degree from NYU School of Medicine, 1960 and completed his residency training at NY Hospital-Cornell Medical Center, 1964. Before coming to SUNY he practiced at St. Mary's Hospital in Brooklyn, and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. He is Board Certified in Anesthesiology. Dr. John Hartung, Associate Professor of Anesthesiology at SUNY. He received a B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania, 1973, and received his Ph.D. from Harvard University, 1981. He is the Associate Editor of the Journal of Neuroanesthesiology. Dr. Ira Kass, Professor of Anesthesiology and Section Head of the Neurosurgical Laboratory at SUNY. He received a B.A. at SUNY Buffalo,1973, an M.S. at the University of Wisconsin,1975, a Ph.D. at the University of Wisconsin,1980 and completed a postdoctoral fellowship in Physiology at the University of Wisconsin, 1983. Dr. Kass also has an appointment in Pharmacology and Physiology, SUNY. Dr. Andre Radianu, Clinical Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology at SUNY. He received his M.D. degree from C. Davilla University of Medicine and Pharmacy-Romania, 1989. He completed his anesthesia training at SUNY, 1998. Dr. Ketan Shevde, Clinical Professor of Anesthesiology and Director of Cardio Thoracic Anesthesia at SUNY. He received his M.D. degree at the Makerere Medical School Uganda, 1963. He completed his residency training at Mount Sinai Hospital, NY, 1973 and a fellowship in Critical Care Medicine, 1974. Before coming to SUNY, Dr. Shevde was the Chairman of the Department of Anesthesiology at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn from 1988-2005. His subspecialty is Cardio Thoracic Anesthesiology. He is board certified in Anesthesiology. Dr. Marina Svyatets, Clinical Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology at SUNY and Attending Anesthesiologist at Long Island College Hospital. She received her M.D. degree from Voroshilovgrad City Medical School, Ukraine, 1989. She completed her anesthesia training at St. Luke-Presbyterian Medical Center and did a one year Cardiac Anesthesia Fellowship, 2001. Dr. Svyatets is board certified in Anesthesiology. Dr. Olga Tyuleneva, Clinical Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology at SUNY and Attending Anesthesiologist at Long Island College Hospital and Lutheran Medical Center. She received her M. D. degree at Leningrad Institute of Medicine - Russia, 1986 and completed her residency training at Brookdale University Hospital, Brooklyn, 2003. Dr. Ivan Velickovic, Clinical Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology and Director of Obstetrical Anesthesia at Downstate. He received his M.D. degree from the University of Nis Servia, Yugoslavia, in October 1984. He completed his Anesthesiology residency training in 2001 and a fellowship in Obstetric Anesthesiology at the Western Pennsylvania Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA in 2002. Dr. Velickovic is board certified in Anesthesiology. Dr. Samrat Worah, Clinical Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology at Downstate Medical Center, and attending Anesthesiologist at Long Island College Hospital. He received his M.D. degree from Pravara Rural Medical College, University of Pune, India in 1996. He completed his Anesthesiology residency training in 2003 and a fellowship in Critical Care Medicine and Ambulatory Anesthesia at Downstate Medical Center in 2005. Dr. Worah is board certified in Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine. Dr. Ming Zhang, Research Assistant Professor, Department of Anesthesiology at SUNY. He received a M.D. from West China University of Medical Sciences, 1991, and a Ph.D. from University of Medicine & Dentistry of New Jersey, 1998 (mentor: Dr. Elizabeth Raveche). He subsequently did a postdoctoral fellowship in immunology in Dr. Michael Carroll's lab at Harvard Medical School, followed by working as a scientist in Natural Antibodies, Inc (biotech start-up by Drs. Carroll and Francis Moore) and as a research associate at Harvard Medical School. |
