Welcome to A Healthy Downstate, a Division of Sports Medicine.

A Healthy Downstate which began in September 2000 is conveniently located on our campus so that employees can have easy access to low cost nutrition and fitness programs.  Programs are offered mid day and early evenings in the Health Science Education Building.  We began the program so that employees can be in good health as they represent themselves as role models to our community members, patients and their own families.

Health is defined as “the condition of being sound in body, mind and spirit”, and physical fitness is defined as the body’s ability to perform both intense and leisure activities”.  Finding a balance between being healthy and physically fit will help you to achieve optimal health.

On this webpage is information about health, nutrition and exercise.  I am certain you will find useful information for you and your family.

Many of you have enjoyed the programs we have provided for the past eight years.    I welcome your suggestions for improving our programs.
