The Robert F. Furchgott SocietyThe Robert F. Furchgott Resident/Clinical Fellow Research AwardTo qualify for this award, applicants must possess an M.D., D.O., or the foreign equivalent of these degrees. The applicant must be in resident or fellowship-level training at SUNY Downstate Medical Center and the research must be within the last five years. The award recipient will be selected on the basis of the scientific merit of their research, as determined by the reviewing members of the Robert F. Furchgott Resident and Clinical Fellow Research Award Committee. The nomination package should include the applicants curriculum vitae, an abstract describing the research in 350 words or less, double spaced, Arial font, Size 11, a letter of nomination from the research advisor that includes a statement of the resident/fellow's role in designing, executing and interpreting the results of the project as well as a statement about the importance and clinical significance of the work. Applicants must also include any supporting documentation, including but not limited to copies of the applicant's published manuscripts relating to the research. Finalists will be asked to give an oral presentation of their research findings before the committee and a final decision will be made April, 2009.
