The Robert F. Furchgott Society

The Robert F. Furchgott Medical Student Research Award

To qualify for this award, applicants must be current fourth year medical students who conducted research while a medical student at SUNY Downstate Medical Center. MD PhD students may only submit applications for research performed while a medical student and not as part of thesis research. The award recipient will be selected on the basis of the scientific merit of their research, the student's contribution to and understanding of the project, and the quality of the presentation as determined by the reviewing members of the Robert F. Furchgott Medical Student Award Committee.

Nominations require:

  1. A letter from the research advisor describing the applicant's role in designing, executing, and interpreting the results of the project.
  2. An abstract describing the research project (no more than 250 words)
  3. The applicant's curriculum vitae

Selected applicants will present a 15-minute oral presentation to members of the Robert F. Furchgott Review Committee in early April 2016.

The application package must be electronically submitted as a single PDF file to RFFS@downstate.edu by Friday, April 8, 2016 at 5 PM.
