Robert F. Furchgott Fellowship Award

We are pleased to announce Robert F. Furchgott Fellowship Award, to be awarded on April 17, 2008, to one Basic Research Fellow and/or one Clinical Research Fellow.
Nominations for The Robert F. Furchgott Fellowship Award will begin on February 4, 2008. To qualify for this award, applicants must possess an M.D., a Ph.D. or the foreign equivalent of these degrees, and must currently be actively engaged in post-graduate fellowship-level training at SUNY Downstate Medical Center for no more than five years at the time of the award. The award recipients will be selected on the basis of the scientific merit of their research, as determined by the reviewing members of the Robert F. Furchgott Fellowship Award Committee. 2-3 finalists will be chosen in the category of Basic Science or Clinical Science, and will be asked to give an oral presentation of their research findings before the Committee, prior to the final selection of awardees.

Nominations must be submitted by the applicant’s research advisor on behalf of the applicant. The nomination package should include a one page abstract of the research (double space), a copy of the applicant’s curriculum vitae, and any supporting documentation, including, but not limited to, two copies of the applicant’s published manuscripts relating to the research. A one-page cover letter from the research advisor should accompany the package. Submit nominations to: RFFS@downstate.edu The deadline for applications is Friday March 7.
