The Robert F. Furchgott Society

The Robert F. Furchgott Basic Science Research Fellowship Award

To qualify for this award, applicants must possess an M.D., a Ph.D., or the foreign equivalent of these degrees; they must currently be actively engaged in post-graduate fellowship-level training at SUNY Downstate Medical Center; and they must be within five years of having received their degree at the time of application for this award. The award recipients will be selected on the basis of the scientific merit of their research, as determined by the reviewing members of the Robert F. Furchgott Basic Science Award Committee.

Nominations must be submitted on behalf of the applicant by the applicant's research advisor. The nomination package should include a one page abstract (double space) a copy of the applicant's curriculum vitae, and any supporting documentation, including, but not limited to, copies of the applicant's published manuscripts relating to the research. A one-page cover letter from the research advisor should accompany the package. Finalists will be asked to give an oral presentation of their research findings before the committee and a final decision will be made April, 2009.
