Replacement of Air Handling Units at University Hospital

This project is to replace outdated air handling units. This work involves the replacement of seven air handling units, four fans, and related motor starters, electrical distribution panels, control wiring, associated piping and ductwork in the penthouse and roof of the UHB.


Where are we today:

The Final leg of "Phase 4" work continuing on the 9th floor west Penthouse MER of the University Hospital Roof with mechanical piping and duct system connections to new equipment locations. The new equipment is currently being used to supply air to the existing air riser system. The contractor is currently making arrangements replacing remaining units for areas already being temporarily serviced by new equipment installations allowing minimal disruptions to UHB occupants.


Project Goals:

  • Work is primarily in the penthouse and roof of UHB
  • Demolition and removal of old units and related components
  • Construct a mechanical penthouse extension,
  • Install new steel dunnage to support new equipment,
  • Install equipment and related electrical, piping and ductwork components,
  • Istall new security, local temperature control and interface with Building Maintenance System (BMS)

Hospital HVAC Upgrade
Dynamic Mechanical contractors is currently proceeding with the work activity approved by the campus. A crane will be on campus on 8/13/16 to place materials on sectioned off area on the roof.
