Assistant Professor

Professor Mathews is an expert in Manual Therapy and has been recognized as a board-certified clinical specialist in Orthopaedics by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties (ABPTS) in 2007. She received her post-professional Masters degree in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy from The University of Melbourne, Australia in 2002 after successfully completing her P.G. Diploma in Physical therapy also from The University of Melbourne. Her post-graduate education in Australia focused on renowned manual therapy techniques that are currently gaining popularity in the United States. She received her preliminary training in India where she obtained her undergraduate degree in Physical Therapy in 2000. She has worked as a physical therapist in various backgrounds in India, Saudi Arabia, Australia, Canada and the U.S. since graduation. She has primarily worked in Orthopedic Rehabilitation and out-patient settings. She is currently enrolled in a transitional Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree program at SUNY Stony Brook. Her special interest and focus of current research is in the area of Real Time Ultrasound Imaging, Core Stabilization Techniques and Manual Therapy Application.


Academic Responsibilities:

Human Gross Anatomy Palpation Lab, Patient/Client Management I, II and III, Musculoskeletal Physical Therapy I & II, Differential Diagnosis, and Research I-V.
