The field of public health is broad, dynamic, and constantly expanding as old diseases wane and new threats appear. As such, public health practitioners work in a variety of careers in organizations ranging from community service groups, local and state health departments, health policy groups, city, state, and federal legislatures, and international health agencies. Now more than ever, the field of public health is expanding to accommodate the need for public health initiatives on a local and global scale.
Students who enroll in this concurrent curriculum would space their occupational therapy coursework over one additional year, while taking 1-2 public health courses each semester. For administrative purposes, students are considered part-time students in both the Occupational Therapy Program and the Public Health Program. Students are required to apply separately and be accepted into each program. Students register for courses each semester as part-time students in each program. Click here to see the complete concurrent curriculum.
Market trends indicate that opportunities for professionals with credentials in both occupational therapy and public health are significant. Feel free to call the Occupational Therapy Program (718-270-7730) or the Master of Public Health Program (718-270-1065) if you have any questions.
