Jasmin Thomas earned her Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Therapy from Boston University and her Advanced Master's Degree in Occupational Therapy from Utica College. She has extensive experience providing occupational therapy services to children of all ages. She has held positions in hospital-based preschool and homecare programs, as well as at several private and public facilities providing occupational therapy to elementary and high school students with special needs. She holds advanced certificates in Handwriting Without Tears, Certified Infant Massage, and Karma Kids Yoga. She has published, in Advance for Occupational Therapists, an article about the power of words in influencing professional relationships with both clients and colleagues.
As Academic Fieldwork Coordinator for the Downstate Occupational Therapy Program, Professor Thomas coordinates all administrative, supervision, and student-oriented aspects of our level I and level II fieldwork experiences. Jasmin Thomas serves as course director for our three-semester Community Practice courses and coordinates the Community Partnership Sequence. The Community Partnership Sequence helps students build community linkages and broadens the role of Occupational Therapy in emerging practice areas. Aditionally, Professor Thomas works with students as a Master's Project faculty advisor.
