Dr. Elenko has extensive experience providing occupational therapy services to pediatric populations in a variety of settings including home, hospital and school-based practice areas. especially treating children birth to five years of age in their natural environments. She is an approved provider of early intervention services for the New York State Department of Health and she is trained in Neurodevelopmental treatment (NDT) with children. Dr. Elenko earned a Bachelor’s degree in OT from Eastern Michigan University, and Advanced Master’s and Doctoral degrees from New York University. Dr. Elenko served as Associate Director of two federally funded educational programs at SUNY Downstate to provide advanced training to occupational therapists in working with young children and their families. Dr. Elenko is also a trainer in the New York State Early Intervention Learning Network. She is currently collaborating as an Academic Partner with the New York City Department of Health’s Early Intervention Program in developing quality training programs for early intervention providers. She will oversee the Specialization in Early Intervention courses in the Occupational Therapy Program. Dr. Elenko teaches Introduction to Therapeutic Occupations and Developmental Assessment and assists in Palpation, Kinesiology, and Assistive Technology Labs. Her research focuses on family-centered and collaborative embedded coaching early intervention practices, natural environments and pediatric treatment strategies. Dr. Elenko is a member of the AOTA Pediatric Workgroup and the Division of Early Childhood.
